30 Days of LIFT

by Jonathan in News on May 13, 2012

LIFT 2012 is now only 30 days away, and things are hotting up at LIFT HQ.  100% London is now 70 people in to the statistical chain-reaction of recruitment, Iranian theatre-director Hamid Poorazari is creating Unfinished Dream, a thrilling new work within a car park in Croydon, and LIFT 2012 co-commissions Motor Show and The Rest Is Silence opening to rave reviews in Brighton last week.

To celebrate this 30 day countdown to LIFT 2012 we are beginning 30 Days of LIFT, a series of blogs, videos and diaries from behind the scenes of LIFT 2012, giving you a unique insight into the creatives behind our festival. And what better way to start off than with a blog from Oskar Eustis, Artistic Director of The Public Theatre, talking about when he first encountered Elevator Repair Service's tour-de-force Gatz.

100% London: Bursting my bubble

by Jonathan in News on April 04, 2012

Starring 100 everyday Londoners - each of whom will represent 1% of London’s 7.8 million population - 100% London will tell the truths of modern London life in a way graphs or pie-charts never can. 100% London has began with the casting of one person who then had 24 hours to recruit another, who then recruited another and so on all according to a specific criteria that exactly mirrors the demographic make up of one of the world's most diverse cities. Project Manager Hannah Kerr tells us about her experience of recruiting a cast of Londoners so far in this statistical chain reaction...
