The Brief

We are looking for two Audience Connectors to work on audience development for LIFT 2024, focusing on engaging specific communities who don’t often feel welcome at the theatre or represented in the arts. We’re looking for someone with lived experience and strong community connections.

  • One Audience Connector will engage Latinx communities across London to attend Latinx productions and participate in community projects programmed for LIFT 2024.
  • One will work to engage with people on low income living within the EC postcode. This work is linked to LIFT’s 2-year placemaking programme with the City of London Corporation. ‘LIFT the City’ will include productions that will take place in the public realm and indoor venues during our 2024 festival.

Person Specification

We are looking for someone who is an excellent communicator, both in person and via email. This person needs to have contacts and networks within the target community, as well as being confident to branch out and develop new relationships. We need an innovative thinker, a collaborator and someone who is passionate about LIFT’s goal of diversifying audiences.

This work will contribute to ongoing learning at LIFT around audience development. It’s important that the person who takes on this work is organised, able to keep detailed records and can contribute to the design and delivery of the evaluation process as well as the delivery. Experience of evaluation and analysis, and working with and motivating groups and individuals will be beneficial, but is not a requirement.

We are looking for someone who is based in and familiar with London. LIFT is a London-based organisation and we unfortunately do not have the budget to bring the Audience Connector and audiences into London for the show. We’re also interested in building long-term relationships and therefore would like to connect with people and organisations local to us through this project.

Although it is not a requirement to apply for the role, for the Audience Connector working with Latinx communities, it would be beneficial to be able to communicate in either Portuguese or Spanish.

Fee

£4,000 – 25 days of work at £160 per day, between October 2023 and 31 July 2024.

The distribution of days and how that time is managed will be worked out with the Audience Connector according to their availability, the key dates above, and the time needed to effectively complete each of the three work phases.
