LIFT’89

LIFT 1989 presented 17+ companies from U.S.S.R., Ireland, Switzerland, Chile, Jamaica, Hungary, France, and the U.S.A.

In the summer of 1989 LIFT formed an unlikely but relationship with the light-weight concrete breezeblock. A hand-width wide and a staple of building trade, it was also the key ingredient of Station House Opera’s Bastille Dances, performed continuously over five days and nights on the South Bank’s river walkway outside the National Theatre.
