With its combination of simplicity, sly humour and gothic shock horror, the show might provide Lloyd Webber with some useful pointers towards his next show.

Nevermore: The Imaginary Life and Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe

    (Canada)

    Catlyst Theatre

Nevermore was an award-winning production, performed by an award-winning company, reinterpreting the hauntingly humorous myths of Edgar Allan Poe. Revealing a Gothic dreamscape of Poe’s life this show was at times playful and perverse, brutal and heartfelt.

Extravagant costumes set alongside a minimal set transported us to and from Poe’s dream world in a strikingly visual musical typical of the work of Catalyst Theatre.

Catalyst have managed to do something very difficult, and that is merge horror, comedy and music in the theatre in a way that is totally engaging.

    The 405

    ...nothing short of magnificent.
