    Back to Back Theatre

Set in the lush minimalism of an illuminated white void, the story of one woman’s humiliation is played out in a psychological space constructed from light and sound.

Back to Back Theatre is driven by an ensemble of artists with intellectual disabilities, who present a unique and startling take on society. In Food Court, Back to Back Theatre incorporated live music by Sydney cult jazz trio, The Necks, to create a part concert, part theatre experience.

Alongside the production we also purpose built a temporary performance and meeting space in Canning Town and worked with two local groups exploring the notion of ‘expectation’ using improvisational games and group singing to generate content for the final day’s showing.

Back to Back Theatre returned to LIFT in 2012 with the UK premier of Ganesh Versus the Third Reich

Remarkably evocative production...all about the power of performance, not just text...It goes from slow, puzzling beginnings to something sublime. Or, rather, to something ugly, unsettling and sublime. Tremendous.
