  • En avant, marche!

    (Flanders, Belgium)

NTGent / les ballets C de la B

    Sadler's Wells

In an outburst of noise and movement, Alain Platel and Frank Van Laecke assemble a full-scale brass band alongside actors and dancers on stage. Commanded by a dying trombonist in his final rehearsal, this is a pure, life affirming celebration of the power of making music together.

Working with composer Steven Prengels, Platel and Van Laecke present the world of music clubs as a ‘miniature society’ in its own right: a collective of very different individuals who try to keep to one and the same marching direction – a driving force in the lives of the people on stage.

With a glorious sense of chaos, this production celebrates the community surrounding a dying trombonist with eloquence and a deep sense of fun
