Cross Continental Collaboration
Increasingly theatre makers are forging collaborations that place people from different countries onto the same stage, traversing national boundaries and challenging notions of national cultural identity.
From LIFT’s own Hungarian/Romanian collaboration 20/20 to the recent tri-national co-production of Three Kingdoms; by the Lyric Hammersmith, Munich Kammerspiele and Estonia’s Teater NO99 production these fluid projects are becoming increasingly attractive to theatre-makers across the continent.
This session will present readings, film screenings, performance lectures and discussions to explore these trends and features Gianina Carbunariu (Director of 20/20), Eero Epner (Dramaturge of Teater NO99, Estonia), Cynthia Hedstrom (Producer for The Wooster Group), Hamid Pourazari (LIFT 2012’s Unfinished Dream), Kai Althoff (Germany) and Yair Oelbaum (USA) and will be chaired by Mark Ball. The event also included an exhibition of photography by German photographer Dominic Jan Geis, documenting the cross national participatory project Unfinished Dream and a screening of a film documentary on the creation of Requardt & Rosenberg’s Motor Show (Germany/UK).
Presented by LIFT with support from the Romanian Cultural Institute, the Hungarian Cultural Centre and the European Culture Programme.
