    Complete Works: Table Top Shakespeare

    Forced Entertainment

We couldn’t wait until June to share LIFT 2016 with you, so as a taste of the festival and to mark 400 years since his death, we are delighted to present Forced Entertainment’s take on the Bard’s back catalogue.

The Complete Works like you’ve never seen it before – one by one all of Shakespeare’s plays condensed and presented on a tabletop using a cast of everyday objects. A salt and pepper pot for the king and queen. A spoon stands in for a servant and a candle for the Friar. Macbeth becomes a cheese grater, Pericles a light bulb and Hamlet is now a bottle of ink.

In the Complete Works theatre pioneers Forced Entertainment explore the dynamic force of narrative and language in their distinctive summary of the playwright’s comedies, tragedies, histories and late works, performing every play in the course of a week. Intimate and scaled down, the worlds they create are vivid, accessible and often comic, and audiences are invited to enjoy one or as many of the 40–55 mins performances as they fancy.

Forced Entertainment continue their long time collaboration with LIFT in this typically original presentation of Shakespeare – marking the 400th Anniversary of Shakespeare’s death in a way he could never have foreseen but we think would have almost certainly enjoyed!
