    LIFT explodes across the city every two years in June.

    Since 1981 LIFT has been pioneering new forms of theatre, presenting spectacular performances and moments of magic in every corner of the capital. A year-round programme culminates in the world-renowned biennial festival that transforms the city into a stage.

    Led by Artistic Director, Mark Ball, LIFT 2016 took place from 1 June to 2 July and was our most ambitious festival yet, with work happening everywhere from the Barbican and Sadler’s Wells to and East End graveyard and historic Music Hall.

    LIFT is looking to appoint an Artistic Director / Joint Chief Executive to succeed Mark Ball who will leave LIFT in June 2017.

    For over three decades LIFT has presented the stories of the world to every corner of our city, pioneering new forms of theatre and setting the benchmark for internationalism in the arts. Working closely with major theatres, dance houses, museums and galleries, LIFT produces a biennial London-wide festival with commissioning at its heart, as well as year-round activity including large scale projects, national touring and participatory work.

    We are now seeking to appoint an inspiring leader to work collaboratively with the Board, the Executive Director / Joint Chief Executive and the rest of the team to create a fantastic new chapter in LIFT’s story.

    The successful candidate will have proven artistic vision and have delivered amazing productions and eclectic programmes, they will be a confident fundraiser, advocate and communicator and able to forge and maintain strong and successful relationships with a range of partners. Inspired by LIFT’s founding values, we remain steadfastly committed to the principles of our inaugural 1981 festival. We seek an Artistic Director with a passion for London, to Internationalism, to the notion of Festival, and to Theatre, in all of its diversity.
