  • ABOUT LIFT

LIFT explodes across the city every two years in June.

Since 1981 LIFT has been pioneering new forms of theatre, presenting spectacular performances and moments of magic in every corner of the capital. A year-round programme culminates in the world-renowned biennial festival that transforms the city into a stage.

Led by Mark Ball (LIFT Artistic Director 2009 – 2017), LIFT 2016 took place from 1 June to 2 July and was our most ambitious festival yet, with work happening everywhere from the Barbican and Sadler’s Wells to and East End graveyard and historic Music Hall. Our next festival will take place across London in June 2018 and will be led by Guest Artistic Director, David Binder.

LIFT HAS DONE MORE TO INFLUENCE THE GROWTH AND ADVENTURE OF ENGLISH THEATRE THAN ANY OTHER ORGANISATION WE HAVE.

LIFT platforms an astonishing diversity of work that engages with the big ideas of our times in eye-opening, witty and entertaining ways. LIFT is young at heart and curious of mind: we exist to challenge, provoke and invigorate, and most importantly to be bold, to experiment and to learn. We are ambitious and we want to do more.

Your support is vital in making our work happen. As an individual or business there are many ways you can show your support to LIFT. From giving a little extra at the checkout to becoming a Founder supporter of LIFT, we welcome any support you can give.

Over the decades LIFT has perfected the art of Festival supporting and enabling artists from all over the world to produce their best work in this country.
