Eat London
A LIFT commission presented by artists Ali&Cia and over 200 participants in Trafalgar Square in 2007
Eat London
Come and get a real taste of London at Eat London, a collaboration between LIFT, artist and architect, Alicia Rios and Barbara Ortiz, a team of artist facilitators and 14 volunteer groups who have been planning how to recreate the city in edible form.
Reflecting both the diversity of the urban surroundings and the variety of cultures within it which give London life such spice, the map will feature a dim sum Imperial War Museum and a Buckingham Palace built from Indian mitsi sweets amongst other mouth-watering and mind-boggling delights. It's art that's really good enough to eat, and in a spirit of sharing the public are being asked to admire the map before devouring it in Trafalgar Square. They do say the first bite is with the eye, after all.
Eat London was the winner of a Visit London 2007 Award for Best Celebration of Cultural Diversity.
