Societas Raffaelo Sanzio invites you to bed down for Buchettino. With each member of the audience given their own individual bunk bed, you can experience all the wonder of bedtime stories once again, from the suspense as the page turns to the very feel of the sheets.
The lights are lowered and the storyteller begins to recite the story of Thumbkin, the tiny young boy who ventures into the forest to encounter the terrifying ogre. Buchettino is an intensely atmospheric experience as sound effects and the narrator’s voice evoke the emotions of childhood. But the performance becomes as much a journey into one’s own subconscious where primitive fears of loneliness take shape through the transformative power of storytelling.
Decidedly dark in tone, Buchettino is also a psychological investigation into the often sinister subject matter of fairytales, which fill youthful imaginations with more macabre ideas than adults often like to think. Each performance is followed by a creative workshop for adults and children.
