Beloved invites participation from the visitor travels alone through the building and grounds on a journey which, through a series of encounters, stimulates personal memories of acts of kindness, both given and received, through the participant’s lifetime.

Participants in Beloved are led on a journey into designated areas, where they are invited to pause and perform a series of acts: select a talisman, navigate through a forest of photographs, dance, listen to lullabies and narratives, rest on pillows, eat ice-cream, receive a hand massage, and scatter grass-seed, culminating in a final act in the garden.

Nicole Blackman is a New York born performance artist, poet and vocalist. At Rainham Hall she creates a magical and moving experience for each participant, as they journey through the gallery and into the landscaped grounds.
